Job Description

Job Summary:

The Physical Therapist evaluates and conducts medically prescribed physical therapy treatment programs.



  • Performs initial and on-going assessments of patient's condition.

  • Establishes, revises and evaluates a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient/family.

  • Performs therapy interventions utilizing standard physical therapy techniques and skills as appropriate for the condition of the patient.

  • Oversees activities of physical therapy assistants, students and other support personnel.

  • Administers and evaluates tests of musculoskeletal, neurological and physiological responses to determine functioning. Develops appropriate treatment plans based on an evaluation of the patient's dysfunction in conjunction with the patient, physician, family and staff.

  • Educates the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Plans and/or assists with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment setting.

  • Performs the duties of a Physical Therapist. Provides consultation for and/or management of patients requiring complex, novel or advanced treatment.

  • Applies selected modality, concentrating on any areas of particular discomfort. Monitors patient's responses to treatment and adjusts, changes or terminates treatment based on feedback.



  • Required Credential(s):

    • Licensed?Rehab Therapist?specializing in?Physical Therapy (RPT)?credentialed from the?Michigan Board of Physical Therapy?obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.?

    • One or more of the following:

      • BLS Provider?specializing in?Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation?credentialed from the?American Heart Association (AHA)?obtained within?1 Month (30 days)?of hire date or job transfer date.?


  • Diploma?

    • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program

  • None required.
